Hannah Sellmyer, LCSW
Hannah is a Licensed Social Worker with over 5 years of experience working with individuals across the lifespan (including children and teens) and with a variety of mental health concerns. Hannah specializes in working with individuals with autism, ADHD, developmental and intellectual disabilities, trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem, and life transitions.
She is currently completing training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to expand her clinical skills and support clients more effectively. Her approach balances compassion and gentleness with accountability and action.Hannah works with clients to identify areas of struggle and to problem-solve together to support sustainable change and long-term stability. Her work is grounded in client-centered service, humanistic psychology and the belief that change is possible for those who seek it. She incorporates a variety of techniques to support clients in developing skills related to emotional regulation, mindfulness, and decision-making, working alongside those served to develop a plan that is realistic and supports client choice.
Hannah holds a Masters degree in Social Work from Illinois State University, where she studied the impacts of trauma and psychosocial stressors in children. She was privileged to work with youth in the Bloomington-Normal area during her internship, supporting kids with developing social skills, emotion control, and positive self-identity. She has also worked in community mental health providing counseling and mentoring services to neurodiverse individuals across the lifespan. She is excited to start at the DBT Institute and share her skills and knowledge with you!
