Laura Deffley, LPC
Laura Deffley joined New Path because she is passionate about helping college students and adults grow, change, and find fulfillment in their lives. She specializes in clients who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, identity issues, self-esteem, stress, and life transitions. Laura offers a warm, supportive, non-judgmental space for clients to feel heard, seen, and understood.
In sessions, Laura collaborates with clients to reflect on where they are right now and consider the best path forward based on their unique strengths and experiences. She incorporates various tools and techniques from mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Her goal is to help clients grow in awareness, overcome obstacles, and live in alignment with their values.
Laura holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Governors State University where she was awarded a grant to participate in training on trauma across the lifespan. She interned for the Intensive Outpatient Program at UChicago Medicine Ingalls’ Flossmoor location and worked in a private practice after graduation. Laura is a National Board Certified Counselor licensed to practice as a Professional Counselor in Illinois.
